PUDUCHERRY: Art and dance enthusiasts are in for a cultural treat as Aurodhan, Puducherry, in collaboration with Biswanath Sangeetalay, Cuttack, will conduct 'Lasya Labanya', a classical dance festival supported by the Union culture ministry.
Festival Details
The festival is slated at 7.30pm on June 19 at the Aurodhan Kritshraya Garden, Kurusukuppam, Puducherry. It promises a vibrant itinerary showcasing the rich heritage of Indian classical dance, with a heavy focus on the graceful movements of Odissi alongside Bharatanatyam.
Performances
The fest includes Odissi solo performances by Kalaimamani Sangeeta Dash, a Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee, and Dipti Routray. A Bharatanatyam duet will be performed by dancers Sumati Kalidindi and Aurodyuti Dutta. An Odissi duet will be presented by Tapomagna and Mahitashree, students of Sangeeta Dash. Additionally, an Odissi group dance composition will be performed by artists from Biswanath Sangeetalay, Cuttack, who are students of Dipti Routray.
Organizing Context
The event is being organized under the wider umbrella of the Aurodhan Arts Festival, Puducherry. Embodying the core theme of 'Oneness Through Art', the festival serves as a cultural bridge, bringing the exquisite classical traditions of Odisha's Odissi dance directly to the shores of Puducherry.
