Naina Gupta on Motherhood Role: A Paradox She Hasn't Experienced in Real Life
Naina Gupta: Understanding Motherhood Through TV Role

Indian television actress Naina Gupta is experiencing the profound emotions of motherhood through her latest role, despite never having been a mother in real life. The talented performer, who currently portrays Devika in the popular show Maana Ke Hum Yaar Nahi, shares how this challenging character has given her unique insights into maternal love and relationships.

The Beautiful Paradox of Screen Motherhood

Naina describes motherhood as what she calls "a beautiful paradox" - something intense, multi-layered, and filled with both joy and challenges. "While playing Devika, I get to understand a mother's love for her child even before becoming a mother myself," the actress reveals. "That makes the role very special for me."

What makes her performance particularly remarkable is that she plays mother to a grown son despite feeling quite young for such a role herself. However, the unique nature of her character's journey proved irresistible to the actress.

Devika's Unique Challenge: A Mother With Amnesia

Naina accepted the role primarily because of Devika's fascinating storyline as a partial amnesiac. Her character believes she is newly married and has completely lost memory of her past, including her adult son named Krishna.

"Whenever Krishna comes around, I see him as a stranger," Naina explains about her character's perspective. "I guide him by saying if his mother were here, she'd want him to do good, be successful, and be a gentleman. Our onscreen bond beautifully captures the emotions of a mother and child."

Emotional Complexity Drives Performance

For Naina, the role stands out because of its remarkable emotional depth and complexity. "As an actor, I always look forward to roles that are challenging and promising," she shares. "Here, I get to portray different emotions at the same time - a daughter searching for her parents, a wife unaware of her husband's whereabouts, a mother who's always around her son without knowing it, and a patient dealing with daily struggles alone."

The actress made her television debut back in 2016 with Sankat Mochan Mahabali Hanuman and has since built an impressive portfolio with appearances in popular shows including Kundali Bhagya, Suhaagan, and Jamuniya among other television productions.

Through her current role, Naina Gupta continues to demonstrate how actors can explore profound human experiences they haven't personally encountered, bringing authenticity and emotional truth to characters that resonate deeply with audiences across India.
