Netflix Inaugurates Global VFX Hub in Hyderabad with Eyeline Studios
In a significant move for the entertainment and technology sectors, Netflix has officially launched its global visual effects (VFX) hub in Hyderabad, India. The streaming giant has established Eyeline Studios, its worldwide production and innovation studio, in the heart of the city's IT hub, Hitech City. This facility marks Eyeline's fifth global location, following sites in Los Angeles, Vancouver, Seoul, and London, positioning Hyderabad as a key player on the international animation, visual effects, gaming, and comics (AVGC) map.
Advanced Infrastructure and Strategic Expansion
The new Hyderabad facility spans an impressive 32,000 square feet and is equipped with state-of-the-art visual effects and generative virtual effects technology. This is supported by a hybrid cloud infrastructure, enabling seamless integration into Eyeline's global network. Netflix emphasized that the office will serve as a fully integrated part of this network, supporting high-end visual storytelling for productions across the world.
This initiative aligns with Netflix's broader strategy to expand its production innovation infrastructure globally, while establishing India as a crucial node in international production pipelines. The company has announced plans to hire specialized VFX talent from India, aiming to build what it describes as a next-generation visual effects and production innovation facility.
Government Support and Economic Impact
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy welcomed the move, stating that Hyderabad is a natural home for Netflix and Eyeline due to its convergence of creativity, technology, and global talent. He highlighted that this partnership will strengthen Hyderabad's reputation as a hub for film, technology, and the AVGC industry. Reddy extended an invitation for Netflix to set up its India corporate headquarters at Future City, promising larger space allocations.
"Telangana is rising. Telangana means business," he declared, underscoring the state's commitment to fostering growth and innovation.
IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu noted that Netflix's presence in Hyderabad will expand opportunities for local creators and professionals, integrating the city more deeply into the global production ecosystem. He emphasized that world-class production standards, advanced creative tools, and innovation-driven workflows will become part of the local landscape, providing young professionals in Telangana with access to future-ready skills and global opportunities.
Babu invited Netflix representatives to collaborate with the Telangana government through the Young India Skills University to build industry-aligned talent pipelines. He confidently stated that with the new Eyeline Studios facility, Hyderabad will become the numero uno storytelling hub on the globe.
Industry Perspectives and Future Prospects
Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, pointed out Hyderabad's strong history in the AVGC sector. He mentioned that several major Hollywood studios already have a presence in the city, and the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies, established in Mumbai last year, will soon open a regional campus in Hyderabad. Jaju highlighted that Hyderabad hosts a substantial AVGC industry, with a bulk of pan-India and multi-lingual films being produced there.
"The presence of Netflix and Eyeline will bring in a lot more content here and will help create a complete diverse ecosystem of not just talent and technology pipeline but a lot of content as well," he added.
Eyeline Studios CEO Jeff Shapiro praised India's long-standing role in global visual effects, citing the scale and depth of talent available. He noted that Hyderabad stood out for its technology backbone, engineering capability, and film culture, making it an ideal base for long-term capability building.
Actor-producer Rana Daggubati commented on the evolution of Hyderabad's creative ecosystem over the past two decades, stating that the arrival of Eyeline Studios marks another major step in the city's rise as a future hub for artists, filmmakers, and storytellers.
This development signals Netflix's growing interest and long-term investment in India's fast-growing AVGC sector, promising to enhance both local and global production capabilities.
