Sumeet Sachdev on TV Fame, Jhanak Role & Replacing Krushal Ahuja

Popular television actor Sumeet Sachdev has openly expressed his profound appreciation for the medium that catapulted him to fame. In a recent conversation, the actor credited television for his widespread recognition and detailed his fulfilling journey, including his current pivotal role in the show Jhanak.

A Heartfelt Tribute to the Television Medium

Sachdev did not hold back his gratitude for the small screen. He stated that television has given him an immense amount over the years. The actor kicked off the year with a notable role in the show 'Ae Dil Jee Le Zara', where he portrayed the character of Karan Bindra. He described Bindra as a superstar singer brimming with attitude, a man not inherently evil but one thoroughly spoilt by fame and public adoration. Sachdev admitted to loving the character deeply, though he lamented that the show had a short run.

Navigating Memorable Roles and the Jhanak Challenge

As one chapter ended, another began. Sumeet Sachdev started filming for Jhanak as his previous show was concluding. He found the brief period where he was simultaneously playing both Karan Bindra and his new character to be a uniquely interesting and enjoyable experience. Reflecting on other recent performances, the actor highlighted his roles as Sumeet Babbar in Chashni and Kumud Bajpai in Slumgolf as particularly cherished ones.

However, his current portrayal of Aniruddha Bose in Jhanak holds a special place. Sachdev stepped into this role in June 2025, taking over from actor Krushal Ahuja. He described Jhanak as a project with tremendous emotional depth that he finds extremely fulfilling. The actor acknowledged the inherent difficulty of entering a show midway, especially when the audience is already attached to a previous performer's interpretation of the character. The challenge, he noted, is to ensure a seamless portrayal without any disruptive break in the character's essence.

Audience Acceptance: The Ultimate Reward

What has made this challenging transition remarkably rewarding for Sumeet Sachdev is the overwhelming acceptance from viewers. He shared that receiving messages from fans across various age groups indicates a genuine connection with his version of Aniruddha. This widespread relatability and the love from the audience stand as the biggest reward for his efforts. For any actor, he emphasized, such acceptance is the ultimate goal.

Sumeet Sachdev first rose to prominence with his iconic role as Gautam Virani (affectionately called Gomzy) in the legendary serial Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. His extensive portfolio in Indian television also includes significant parts in popular shows like Karam Apnaa Apnaa, Bandini, Pyaar Ka Bandhan, and Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, solidifying his status as a versatile and beloved figure on the small screen.
