28 Years Later Sequel Continues Zombie Saga with New Director

Danny Boyle's surprise hit 28 Years Later thrilled audiences last year with its bold take on the zombie genre. The sequel now picks up the story of Spike, played by Alfie Williams. He faces dual threats in this installment. The ever-present danger of "the infected" remains. He must also contend with the strange rituals of a cult led by Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal, portrayed by Jack O'Connell.

Ralph Fiennes returns as Dr Ian Kelson from the previous film. Nia DaCosta takes over directing duties for this chapter. She previously directed the horror film Candyman. Alex Garland continues as the writer, maintaining consistency across all five films in the series.

The musical score comes from acclaimed composer Hildur Guðnadóttir. Her previous work on projects like Chernobyl and Joker demonstrates her skill in creating atmospheric soundscapes for dark narratives. The film is currently showing in theatres nationwide.

Vir Das Directs and Stars in Goan Detective Comedy

Comedian and actor Vir Das makes his directorial debut with Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos. He co-directs with Kavi Shastri and also plays the lead role. The comedy follows the misadventures of an incompetent detective working in Goa.

The film shows clear influence from the 2011 cult favorite Delhi Belly in its tone and humor. Mithila Palkar and Sharib Hashmi appear in supporting roles alongside Das. This lighthearted comedy offers audiences a break from more serious fare. It is now playing in select theatres across the country.

Neeraj Pandey Creates Customs Drama Taskaree

Creator Neeraj Pandey brings another gripping story to screens with Taskaree: The Smuggler's Web. The series focuses on the customs department operating at Mumbai's international airport. Emraan Hashmi plays Arjun Meena, leading the department's efforts against international smuggling operations.

The ensemble cast includes Sharad Kelkar, Amruta Khanvilkar, and Zoya Afroz in significant roles. Pandey, known for films like Special 26, applies his signature style to this streaming series. Viewers can watch all episodes exclusively on JioHotstar's platform.

Agatha Christie Adaptation Comes to Netflix

Netflix adds another period mystery to its library with Agatha Christie's Seven Dials. The series adapts Christie's 1929 novel of the same name. Mia McKenna-Bruce portrays Lady Eileen "Bundle" Brent, who investigates a murder at an English country house in 1925.

The production features notable actors Helena Bonham Carter and Martin Freeman in supporting roles. This marks another quality addition to the growing collection of Christie adaptations available for streaming. Mystery enthusiasts can now enjoy this series on Netflix.

These releases represent diverse offerings across genres and platforms. From zombie horror to detective comedy, from customs drama to classic mystery, there's something for every viewer's taste this season.
