NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his monthly radio address Mann Ki Baat on Sunday, announced that the Beating Retreat ceremony, which showcases the diverse musical traditions of different bands and has seen increased usage of Indian music, will now be available on the WAVES OTT platform.
Highlights of the Ceremony
Modi stated, 'You may have noticed that this ceremony showcases the diverse musical traditions of different bands. This program of splendid formations, along with vibrant music, is sure to draw everyone's attention.' He noted that after the Beating Retreat, all the hard work and achievements used to fade away, but now a commendable initiative has been undertaken. 'For the first time, the music of Beating Retreat is also available on WAVES OTT. In the future, it will be available on other platforms as well, and you must listen to it. You will be very proud of our armed forces and their traditions,' he added.
Memorable Performances
This year's Beating Retreat ceremony was particularly memorable, with the Air Force, Army, Navy, and CAPF bands delivering excellent performances. The PM highlighted that the Air Force band composed the Sindoor formation, while the Naval band created the 'Matsya Yantra' formation. The Army band's performance showcased 150 years of Vande Mataram as well as India's success in cricket.
Historical Significance
The Beating Retreat ceremony was first held in the 1950s and has since become an annual tradition to pay tribute to the valor and sacrifice of the armed forces.
