Davinder Gill Makes Digital Debut in Kohrra 2 as Constable Aujla

Actor Davinder Gill, who first gained attention with his feature film debut as Jarnail Singh in the sports drama Maidaan, has now entered the digital arena with his web series debut in Kohrra 2. In this highly anticipated second season of the critically acclaimed series, Gill portrays the role of Constable Aujla, bringing a fresh dynamic to the intense narrative.

From Audition to Role: The Journey to Kohrra 2

Interestingly, Gill's connection with Kohrra began earlier. He revealed in an exclusive interview that he had auditioned for Season 1 alongside casting director Nikita, but at that time, no suitable character matched his profile. For Season 2, Nikita reached out again for another audition opportunity.

"I even had a conversation with the director, who wanted to understand my natural personality and whether he could envision Aujla as me," Gill explained. "I guess he liked the flavor I could bring to Aujla." This process highlights the careful casting approach that has become a hallmark of quality Indian streaming content.

Constable Aujla: A Refreshing Balance in Dark Narrative

Set against the evocative backdrop of Punjab, Kohrra 2 continues its gripping murder mystery where each character carries profound darkness and painful histories. Within this emotionally charged landscape, Constable Aujla introduces a welcome balance.

"Everyone has a dark side and a sad story in Season 2," Gill noted. "Aujla brings a slightly lighter, fun element to the show, but at the same time, he is a very trustworthy and dedicated constable. He believes he's the best in theory and takes his job very seriously."

Aujla shares significant screen time with fellow officer Garundi, creating a compelling dynamic within the police force that adds depth to the investigative elements of the series.

Authentic Preparation: Drawing from Real Punjab Police Experiences

To prepare for his role as a Punjab Police constable, Gill immersed himself in authentic research. "One of my close friends is in the Punjab Police, and since we were shooting in Punjab, I spent a lot of time observing him and his colleagues," he shared.

Gill was particularly fascinated by their professional detachment. "When they see a dead body, they don't get overwhelmed... for them, it's a body, a case, and an investigation." He observed that this clinical approach contrasted with their personal demeanor. "They're actually very chill when hanging out personally, probably because the stress of their work is so intense. I picked up on those nuances and tried to bring that authenticity into Aujla."

Punjabi Roots Enhancing Authenticity

Proud of his cultural background, Gill emphasized how his Punjabi heritage naturally enriched his performance. "My total Punjabi desi-ness naturally flowed into the dialogues," he said, adding a layer of authenticity that audiences have begun appreciating. This cultural resonance enhances the series' regional authenticity, which has been a key factor in Kohrra's critical success.

Gratitude and Professional Experience

Reflecting on his experience, Gill expressed profound gratitude. "I'm very thankful to the casting team for trusting me with this role. The entire Kohrra direction team was extremely well-prepared and professional." He concluded with genuine appreciation, "I feel lucky and fortunate to be a part of what I truly believe is one of India's best web shows."

Before stepping into the digital space with Kohrra 2, Davinder Gill made his feature film debut as Jarnail Singh in Ajay Devgn's Maidaan, establishing his versatility across different entertainment mediums. His journey from big-screen sports drama to streaming murder mystery demonstrates the expanding opportunities for actors in India's evolving entertainment landscape.
