Dhurandhar Tops Netflix Global Charts, Dethrones Tere Ishk Mein; Kapil Sharma's Show Struggles
Dhurandhar Dominates Netflix, Kapil Sharma's Show Fails Again

In a significant shift in streaming trends, the film Dhurandhar has surged to the top of Netflix's global viewership rankings, dethroning the previously leading Tere Ishq Mein. This development highlights the dynamic nature of digital entertainment consumption, with The Great Indian Kapil Show continuing to face challenges as it fails to secure a spot in the top 10 list once again.

Dhurandhar's Meteoric Rise on Netflix

Released on Netflix on January 30, Dhurandhar quickly captivated audiences worldwide, ascending to the number one position on the Top 10 global non-English movies list within its first week. The film, starring Ranveer Singh, garnered an impressive 7.6 million views and 26.1 million hours viewed, according to Netflix's metrics. It's important to note that views are calculated by dividing total hours viewed by runtime, which for Dhurandhar stands at 3 hours and 26 minutes after adjustments, including the removal of Baloch references and public service announcements.

Tere Ishk Mein Holds Strong but Slips in Rankings

Meanwhile, Tere Ishk Mein, directed by Aanand L Rai and featuring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon, maintained its presence on the global list for a second consecutive week. However, it experienced a slight decline, dropping from the top spot to third place. This week, the film recorded 4.4 million views and 12.1 million hours viewed, showing an increase from last week's 3.8 million views and 10.5 million hours viewed, yet not enough to retain its leading position.

Kapil Sharma's Show Faces Viewership Challenges

In contrast, The Great Indian Kapil Show struggled significantly, missing out on the Top 10 global non-English TV shows list for another week. Despite being renewed for a fifth season by Netflix, the current season has witnessed its worst viewership numbers to date. Out of seven episodes streamed, only one has managed to appear in the top 10, a stark departure from previous seasons that consistently drew larger audiences. The latest episode featured guests like Aditi Rao Hydari and Vijay Sethupathi, but this did not boost its rankings.

Taskaree Continues Its Impressive Run

On a brighter note, the series Taskaree, starring Emraan Hashmi, demonstrated remarkable staying power by securing a place in the top 10 for the third consecutive week. This week, it held the third spot with 1.7 million views and 9.2 million hours viewed, underscoring its popularity among Indian audiences and its ability to sustain viewer interest over time.

Overall, these rankings reflect the competitive landscape of streaming platforms, where content like Dhurandhar can quickly dominate, while established shows like Kapil Sharma's face ongoing hurdles in maintaining viewer engagement.
