Ayurveda College Gives 5,000 Plants on Environment Day

The Government Ayurveda College and Hospital in Mysuru marked World Environmental Day by distributing 5,000 medicinal and herbal plants this year. The initiative was part of a five-day programme undertaken by the Ayurveda University between June 1 and 5.

Varieties of Herbal Saplings Distributed

Varieties of herbal saplings, including Adusoge, Nelabevu, Doddapatre, Lakkigida, Insulin sasya, Amruthaballi, Basale soppu, Dasavala, Vandalega, Shankhpushpi, ginger, turmeric, Ashoka, Noni, Hippali, Ashwagandha, and Brahma, were distributed to the public. The saplings were raised at the Chandravana garden and then handed over to the community.

Celebration with Students

The college celebrated this year's World Environment Day with the slogan 'one ayurveda saplings to one student' at Chandravana on Friday. Principal of the College, Dr. Srivatsa, inaugurated the distribution of saplings. Over 400 students of Ayurveda College also planted saplings at Chandravana. Various organisations and students participated in the event.

Book Fair Organized

A book fair was also organised jointly by the department of public libraries, the City Central Library, and the People’s Park Library on Friday to mark World Environment Day. Deputy Director of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Yeshaswini, was present at the event.
