Bengaluru Software Engineer Cheated of ₹48 Lakh in Ayurvedic Sexual Health Scam

A software engineer from Bengaluru has filed a formal police complaint against a self-proclaimed healer who allegedly cheated him of nearly ₹48 lakh by selling overpriced and potentially dangerous Ayurvedic medicines for sexual health treatment. The victim claims these medicines not only failed to work but also caused him kidney damage.

The case was officially registered on Saturday under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused has been identified as "Vijay Guruji," the owner of Vijayalaxmi Ayurvedic Shop. Police have launched a thorough investigation into the matter.

The Beginning of the Medical Nightmare

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the victim began experiencing sexual health issues following his marriage in 2023 and was initially receiving treatment at a multi-speciality hospital in Kengeri. His troubles escalated in May when he came across an advertisement promising "quick solutions for sexual problems."

This advertisement led him to a man who directed him to meet Vijay Guruji, who was presented as someone capable of providing a complete cure. Guruji allegedly conducted an examination and recommended a special Ayurvedic medicine called Devaraj Booti, claiming it was exclusively available at his store and cost an astonishing ₹1,60,000 per gram.

The Elaborate Financial Trap

The victim was instructed to make all payments in cash, specifically avoiding online transactions. Trusting the healer's expertise, he purchased the recommended medicine and was later sold another product called Bhavan Booti oil, priced at ₹76,000 per gram.

Over the subsequent weeks, the victim spent approximately ₹17 lakh on various medicines as directed by Guruji. The situation worsened when Guruji insisted that the victim needed to purchase more Devaraj Booti, warning that the previous treatment would be ineffective without it.

To comply with this demand, the victim took a ₹20 lakh loan from his bank to buy 18 grams of the medicine. He was further convinced to purchase another product called Devaraj Rasabooti at ₹2,60,000 per gram, for which he borrowed ₹10 lakh from a friend.

Health Consequences and Threats

Despite following the treatment regimen exactly as instructed, the victim noticed no improvement in his condition. Instead, his health deteriorated significantly, and he eventually developed kidney damage, which he believes was directly caused by the medicines prescribed by Guruji.

When the victim confronted Guruji about his worsening health condition, the healer allegedly threatened him, warning that stopping the treatment could further deteriorate his health and even put his life at risk.

The victim has now demanded strict legal action against Vijay Guruji, and the Bengaluru police are actively investigating what appears to be a sophisticated medical fraud case that has left both the victim's health and finances in ruins.
