Goa Government Allocates 50 Acres to Boost Ayurvedic Healthcare at AIIA
In a significant move to strengthen patient care, the Goa government has decided to allot 50 acres of land at Dhargal to the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA). This expansion aims to offer specialised Ayurvedic services, including oncology research, diagnostics, and treatment, marking a major step forward in integrative medicine.
Chief Minister Announces Land Allocation for Enhanced Facilities
Speaking on Sunday, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant confirmed that the state government will hand over the land to support AIIA's growth. He emphasized that this initiative will develop advanced facilities, particularly focusing on oncology, to improve healthcare outcomes. Sawant also inaugurated new surgical facilities, a bone health unit, a physiotherapy unit, and other services at AIIA Goa, highlighting the institute's commitment to blending traditional Ayurveda with modern healthcare practices.
Commitment to Education and Patient-Centred Care
Sawant expressed pride in the fact that 50% of the 100 undergraduate seats at AIIA are reserved for Goan students, fostering local talent in Ayurvedic medicine. He stated, "AIIA Goa is dedicated to promoting traditional systems of medicine alongside modern healthcare. The inauguration of these facilities will significantly enhance patient care and expand access to specialised Ayurvedic treatments for the people." This move is expected to boost preventive healthcare and comprehensive treatment options.
Leadership Perspectives on Ayurveda Infrastructure
P K Prajapati, the Director of AIIA, noted that the new units represent an important step in strengthening patient-centred Ayurvedic healthcare services. "These facilities will enable us to provide comprehensive treatment, promote preventive healthcare, and enhance the quality of services available to patients," he said. Meanwhile, Minister of State for Ayush Prataprao Jadhav affirmed the Centre's ongoing efforts to bolster Ayurveda infrastructure across India.
National Support for Evidence-Based Ayurveda
Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, highlighted AIIA's pivotal role in advancing Ayurveda education, research, and patient care. "The addition of these facilities at AIIA Goa will further enhance the institute's capacity to deliver specialised healthcare services while promoting evidence-based Ayurveda and integrative medicine," he remarked. This expansion aligns with national goals to integrate traditional medicine into mainstream healthcare systems.
