Teacher Suspended for Forged UTET Certificate in Uttarakhand

Rudrapur: A government school teacher in Udham Singh Nagar district was suspended and attached to the office of the deputy education officer in Bazpur for allegedly securing his appointment with a forged Uttarakhand teacher eligibility test (UTET) certificate, officials said on Sunday.

Details of the Incident

Sudhir Kumar, in his 30s, was posted as an assistant teacher at Govt Primary School in Bannakhera village under Bazpur block in 2023. An inquiry and verification of his academic records revealed discrepancies in his UTET documents.

Verification Findings

Officials said the marksheet submitted by Kumar showed that he had qualified the exam, but a report from Uttarakhand Board of School Education, Ramnagar, found otherwise. “The official report from the board clearly states that the teacher was marked ‘Not Qualified’ in UTET-I 2023, whereas the marksheet submitted during recruitment showed him as ‘Qualified’,” district chief education officer Harendra Kumar Mishra said.

Following the board’s confirmation, the department initiated disciplinary proceedings. “Maintaining transparency and integrity in the education system is our top priority. Strict action will be taken wherever any attempt is made to mislead the department,” Mishra added.

This incident highlights the importance of rigorous verification processes in educational recruitment to prevent fraudulent practices. The suspended teacher now faces further investigation, and the department has vowed to take strict action against any such misconduct.
