UP Govt Wins National Award for Ayushman Bharat Scheme Implementation
UP Govt Gets National Award for Ayushman Bharat

The Uttar Pradesh government has been honored for its effective implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). The recognition was announced by the state health department, highlighting the successful expansion of digital health services across the state.

Award Conferred by National Health Authority

The award was presented by the National Health Authority (NHA) during a two-day national workshop held in Pune on April 17-18. Health secretary Ritu Maheshwari and state health agency (SACHIS) chief executive officer Archana Verma stated that the recognition reflects the state's commitment to expanding healthcare access and strengthening digital systems.

Key Achievements in Healthcare Infrastructure

Officials reported that 6,433 hospitals are currently empanelled under the scheme in Uttar Pradesh, comprising 3,521 private and 2,912 government facilities. A significant number of these hospitals have adopted digital systems under the ABDM, enabling electronic health records and streamlined patient services. In the past year, the state has focused on adding higher-capacity hospitals, with 55 hospitals having 100 or more beds recently empanelled. This move is expected to strengthen secondary and tertiary care services.

Improved Access to Specialized Treatments

The expansion has improved access to specialized treatments such as neurosurgery, neonatal care, oncology, radiology, plastic surgery, and burn management. Officials noted that this has reduced the need for patients, particularly those from rural areas, to travel outside their districts or to other states for advanced care. The recognition underscores Uttar Pradesh's progress in making quality healthcare more accessible and digitally integrated.
