A 13-year-old boy suffering from end-stage heart failure has been given a new lease of life after the family of a 45-year-old woman from Panchkula decided to donate her organs. The boy, who was on the waiting list for a heart transplant for several months, received the life-saving organ at a hospital in Chandigarh.
Donor Family's Generous Decision
The donor, a resident of Panchkula, was declared brain-dead following a sudden illness. Her family, despite their grief, chose to donate her heart, liver, kidneys, and corneas, giving hope to multiple patients. The heart was successfully transplanted into the young boy, who is now recovering well.
Medical Team's Efforts
The transplant was performed by a team of cardiothoracic surgeons at the hospital. The surgery lasted several hours and was deemed successful. Doctors expressed gratitude to the donor family for their selfless act, which not only saved the boy's life but also highlighted the importance of organ donation.
Organ donation remains a critical need in India, with thousands of patients waiting for transplants. This case serves as an inspiring example of how one family's decision can transform lives.
