In a significant crackdown on the illegal sale of adulterated food items, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Devbhumi Dwarka police apprehended a 76-year-old woman for allegedly selling fake desi ghee. The operation was conducted based on specific intelligence gathered during patrolling in the Salaya Marine police station area.
Details of the Operation
Police received inputs that adulterated desi ghee mixed with chemicals was being sold near the Salaya Panjrapole gate, posing a serious risk to public health. An SOG team immediately rushed to the location and detained the suspect, identified as Maya Vakatar, a resident of Khambhalia. Officials stated that she was found in possession of a substantial quantity of the suspected counterfeit ghee.
Seizure and Testing
Following the seizure, the food inspector was called to the spot. Preliminary on-site testing was conducted, after which samples of the adulterated product were collected for further laboratory analysis. The remaining stock, approximately 9kg of ghee valued at around Rs 2,700, was destroyed on the spot to prevent any potential harm to consumers, officials confirmed.
This action underscores the commitment of law enforcement to safeguard public health by curbing the distribution of adulterated food products in the region.
