Andhra Pradesh Government Fills 9,000 Medical and Health Posts in 20 Months
In a significant boost to the state's healthcare infrastructure, Health Minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav announced on Friday that the NDA coalition government has successfully filled approximately 9,000 posts in the medical and health department over the last 20 months. This large-scale recruitment drive has resulted in an annual financial burden of about Rs 350 crore on the government, reflecting a substantial investment in public health services.
Breakdown of Appointments and Monthly Recruitment Rate
The health minister provided a detailed breakdown of the 9,000 positions filled, which include 2,000 doctors, 5,800 paramedical staff, and 1,200 ASHA workers. On average, around 450 posts were filled every month, demonstrating a consistent and aggressive hiring effort to strengthen the healthcare workforce across Andhra Pradesh.
Distribution of Appointment Letters to 74 NCD Clinic Doctors
During a program held at Dr NTR University of Health Sciences, Satya Kumar Yadav distributed appointment letters to 74 doctors who have been selected to work in Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) clinics. These clinics are strategically set up at Community Health Centres (CHCs) and Area Hospitals to enhance preventive and predictive healthcare measures.
Focus on Combating Rising Non-Communicable Diseases
Addressing the newly appointed doctors, the health minister expressed deep concern over the increasing prevalence of NCDs, attributing this trend to changing lifestyles. He emphasized that the government is prioritizing predictive and preventive healthcare strategies to address this growing challenge.
Under the NCD 4.0 initiative, screening tests are being conducted statewide to identify oral, breast, and cervical cancers at early stages. This proactive approach aims to reduce the burden of these diseases through timely detection and intervention, aligning with the government's broader goal of improving public health outcomes.
The recruitment of these 74 doctors specifically for NCD clinics underscores the administration's commitment to tackling lifestyle-related health issues head-on, ensuring that specialized care is available at the community level to support early diagnosis and management of chronic conditions.
