Tragic Accident Claims Life of Six-Year-Old Boy in Bijnor
A heartbreaking incident has unfolded in Bijnor district, where a six-year-old boy lost his life after accidentally consuming liquid bleach at his home. The child, identified as Ruhaan, was residing in Chandigarh with his parents when the tragic accident occurred on February 6.
Details of the Fatal Incident
According to family members, Ruhaan was playing inside the house while his mother, Nagma, was busy preparing food. In a moment of innocent curiosity, the young boy reached for a bottle placed on a wall shelf, mistakenly believing it contained water. Unfortunately, the bottle held a concentrated cleaning agent, commonly known as caustic soda or liquid bleach.
Immediate Aftermath and Medical Response
Soon after ingesting the corrosive substance, Ruhaan's condition rapidly deteriorated. His father, Gulsher Kassar, who works as a labourer in Chandigarh, immediately rushed the child to a nearby hospital. Despite receiving medical treatment for several days, Ruhaan could not survive the severe internal injuries caused by the chemical.
Medical professionals confirmed that the corrosive nature of the liquid bleach caused extensive damage to the boy's internal organs, ultimately leading to his tragic demise on Monday.
Family's Grief and Final Resting Place
The family brought Ruhaan's body back to their ancestral home in the Shahi Masjid area of Neendaru village in Bijnor district. The young boy was laid to rest on Tuesday, surrounded by grieving family members and loved ones.
Notably, family members chose not to formally report the incident to local police authorities, treating it as a devastating household accident rather than a criminal matter.
This tragic event serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of keeping hazardous household chemicals securely stored away from children's reach. The family's loss has left the community in mourning, highlighting the need for greater awareness about household safety precautions, particularly in homes with young children.
