A tragic incident in Satna district's Unchehra block has resulted in the death of a seven-year-old boy and left three members of his family seriously ill due to suspected food poisoning. Authorities are actively investigating the exact source of contamination, which remains undetermined.

Incident Details

According to sources, the family consumed homemade food on the night of May 20. Shortly after, all members began experiencing severe symptoms including vomiting, diarrhea, and dizziness. The condition of the young boy, identified as Kishun Daheriya, aged 7, deteriorated rapidly. He passed away before advanced medical treatment could be provided. The three other affected family members, comprising the boy's grandparents and elder brother, were subsequently admitted to a private hospital where they are now reported to be stable.

Medical Response

Dr. AK Rai, the medical officer of Unchehra block, provided details to local media. He stated, "The kin first took the child to a private facility, and then he was later brought to Community Health Centre (CHC) as brought dead. The condition of other family members was stable. We have sent teams to the village. Water samples have also been taken and sent for laboratory tests."

Investigative Actions

Following the incident, teams from the health department and the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department promptly visited the village. They collected water samples from the family's well for laboratory testing. Additionally, officials have initiated awareness measures in the area. Residents are being advised to avoid stale food, wash vegetables thoroughly, and consume only boiled or filtered drinking water during the summer months to prevent similar incidents.
