Seven Delhi Pilgrims Injured in Haridwor Car Crash Near Ashram Flyover
In a distressing incident on Monday, seven pilgrims from Delhi sustained injuries, with one in critical condition, after their car was involved in a serious accident near the Premnagar Ashram flyover in Haridwar. The critically injured individual was promptly transferred to a higher medical center for advanced treatment, highlighting the severity of the collision.

City SP Abhay Singh provided details to the media, identifying the injured as Neelam Singh (39), Jaiprakash (55), Kishore Kumar (47), Vinod Kumar (40), Sarvesh Devi (55), Satya Prakash (60), and Rajbahadur (58). All are residents of Delhi's Tughlakabad and Kalkaji areas. Rajbahadur was behind the wheel at the time of the accident.
The group was en route to attend a Bhagwat Katha event in the Kankhal area of Haridwar, a spiritual gathering that underscores the pilgrimage nature of their trip. This context adds a layer of tragedy to the incident, as their journey was intended for religious purposes.
Causes of the Accident and Immediate Response
Police investigation revealed that the accident occurred when a truck moving ahead of the car suddenly applied its brakes. This abrupt action caused the car to lose control and crash into the truck. Authorities have also pointed to a badly stationed oil tanker on the flyover as a potential contributing factor, suggesting that poor parking or obstruction may have exacerbated the situation.
Upon receiving alerts, police and emergency response teams, including the City Patrol Unit (CPU) and traffic police, swiftly reached the spot. They launched a comprehensive rescue operation to assist the victims. The injured were initially rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention.

To ensure efficient transportation and care, ambulances from the 108 emergency service and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) were deployed.
