Elderly Woman Injured in Pilerne Apartment Fire; Air Cooler Blamed
An apartment in Pilerne caught fire on Sunday morning, resulting in an elderly woman sustaining minor burns. The incident occurred early in the day, and the woman was promptly admitted to Goa Medical College for further treatment. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the fire.
Swift Response from Fire Department
According to a fire officer at the Pilerne fire station, they received an emergency call at 7:30 am. The fire tender arrived at the venue within 5 to 7 minutes, demonstrating a rapid response to the situation. Upon arrival, the firefighters found that the fire had already been contained.
The officer stated, "The neighbours or the people in the house must have contained the fire before we reached the destination." This quick action by residents helped prevent the situation from escalating further.
Details of the Incident
The fire was caused by an air cooler in the kitchen that burst, igniting a plastic utensil. The flames then spread quickly to the living room, where they destroyed the television. The elderly woman, who lives with her granddaughter, was in the apartment at the time. Her granddaughter was asleep in an adjacent room during the incident and was unharmed.
The loss from the fire has not been estimated yet, and an investigation is currently underway to determine the full extent of the damage and any contributing factors. Authorities are working to assess the situation and ensure such incidents are prevented in the future.
