Four Arrested with MDMA in Thiruvananthapuram Raid

Thiruvananthapuram: In a late-night anti-narcotics operation on Saturday, Kallambalam police arrested four men and seized 4.79 grams of MDMA. The raid was conducted in coordination with the district anti-narcotic special action force (Dansaf) as part of Operation Toofan.

Details of the Arrest

The arrested individuals have been identified as Niyaz, Ashiq, Nadayara, and Akhil, all residents of Cherunniyoor in Varkala. According to police, the accused were intercepted while traveling in a car on the Kallambalam-Varkala Road around 9.15 pm. The operation was carried out on the instructions of the district rural police chief, based on confidential information received by Dansaf.

Attempt to Evade Arrest

Police stated that the accused attempted to evade arrest after spotting the team. They allegedly tried to hit a police team that arrived on a motorcycle with their car. Subsequently, two of the accused attempted to flee on foot but were chased and apprehended by officers.

Source and Intended Distribution

Preliminary interrogation revealed that the MDMA was procured from Bengaluru and was allegedly intended for distribution among school and college students in the district. The accused were later produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody.
