Health Minister Advocates for Ayush Integration in National Health Scheme
Union Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling made a significant appeal on Monday. He directed senior health officials from the Centre, states, and union territories to consider incorporating Ayush packages into the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (ABPMJAY). This proposal aims to complement the existing modern medicine packages under the scheme.
Minister's Address at National Workshop
Mahaling delivered these remarks during the inaugural session of a two-day national chintan shivir. The event focuses on ABPMJAY and the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). It commenced in Bhubaneswar on Monday.
"I urge officials and participants to discuss formulating treatment packages under the Ayush system during this workshop," the minister stated. "This includes ayurvedic and homeopathic packages. Currently, we only have allopathic or modern medicine packages available."
Emphasis on Integrated Healthcare
Mahaling highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's focus on promoting the Ayush system alongside allopathic medicine. "Under the 'One Nation, One Health' program, we must include Ayush medicines with modern medicine," he emphasized. "Our goal is to integrate both Ayush and allopathic approaches for comprehensive healthcare."
