Tragic Holi Drownings in Krishna District Claim Lives of 4 Students
Holi festivities in the combined Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh took a devastating turn on Tuesday, as separate drowning incidents resulted in the tragic deaths of four students. The joyous celebrations quickly transformed into scenes of mourning, leaving families and communities in profound shock.
Chikkavaram Village Pond Incident
In Chikkavaram village, located under Gannavaram mandal, three students met with a fatal accident after slipping into a pond. The victims, identified as Naveen Kumar (11), Sai (16), and Venkata Joseph (16), had gone to the pond to wash their hands following Holi revelries. Tragically, they lost their balance and fell into the deep section of the water body.
Rescue efforts led to the recovery of the bodies of Naveen and Joseph. However, search operations are actively ongoing to locate Sai, adding to the anguish of the situation. This incident has cast a dark shadow over the festive atmosphere in the village, with celebrations abruptly halted by grief.
Kondur Village Stream Tragedy
In a separate and equally heartbreaking event at Kondur village in Nandigama mandal, 14-year-old Bellamkonda Diwakar, a Class IX student, drowned while swimming in a local stream. Taking advantage of the Holi holiday, Diwakar had gone swimming with three friends. During their outing, he reportedly ventured into deeper waters and failed to resurface, leading to his untimely death.
