A peacock was found severely injured in the Sarwan Mohalla area of Mhow on Saturday, prompting a swift rescue operation by local authorities. The bird was spotted by residents who immediately contacted the dial 112 emergency service.
Rescue Operation
Upon receiving the alert, police personnel arrived at the scene and transported the peacock to the veterinary polyclinic located on the Janpad Panchayat premises. ASI Rajkumar Awasthi of the Dial 112 service confirmed that Ashish Kaushal, a resident of Sarwan Mohalla, had reported the injured bird, leading to its timely rescue.
Handover to Forest Department
Forest officials were also notified about the incident. They reached the clinic and took custody of the peacock for further care. Mhow forest sub-division deputy ranger Shashank Yadav informed the Times of India that the peacock had sustained injuries to both its legs and was currently undergoing treatment. He assured that the bird would be released into a safe natural environment once it fully recovers.
Local Wildlife Presence
Residents noted that a significant number of peacocks and other wild animals are frequently seen in the forested area behind Lalji Ki Basti, a locality near Sarwan Mohalla. The incident highlights the coexistence of wildlife and human settlements in the region.
