A terrifying LPG cylinder explosion caused severe destruction to a small residential house in Burj Mastan village of Faridkot district on Saturday. The incident resulted in extensive structural damage, though the lone occupant inside the home managed to escape with only moments to spare before the catastrophic blast occurred.
Narrow Escape as Occupant Flees Moments Before Catastrophic Blast
According to police reports, the incident unfolded when Veerpal Kaur attempted to light her kitchen stove. The stove immediately caught fire, with flames rapidly spreading to the nearby LPG cylinder. Recognizing the imminent danger, Veerpal Kaur rushed outside the house to seek help from neighbors. Within moments of her escape, the gas cylinder exploded with tremendous force.
The powerful explosion brought down the entire roof of the house and destroyed numerous household items. A motorcycle parked inside the home was completely destroyed in the blast. Fortunately, Veerpal Kaur's husband Raj Kumar and their children were away from the property at the time of the incident, avoiding potential injuries or fatalities.
Emergency Response and Investigation Underway
Neighbors who witnessed the explosion immediately alerted both the fire brigade and local police authorities. A fire tender quickly reached the scene and worked to douse the flames, which were visible from a considerable distance due to their intensity.
Faridkot Sadar SHO Inspector Rajesh Kumar arrived at the location with a police team and assisted fire personnel in controlling the blaze. Inspector Kumar stated that preliminary investigation suggests the blast was triggered by the LPG cylinder bursting, though the exact cause remains under detailed examination by authorities.
Political Response and Compensation Promised
Faridkot MLA Gurdit Singh Sekhon visited the affected family following the incident and assured them of government support. The MLA confirmed that the state government would provide appropriate compensation for the substantial losses suffered by the family in this devastating explosion.
