Ludhiana Factory Worker Critically Injured in Sudden Kitchen LPG Explosion
A man suffered severe burns when a fire suddenly broke out in the kitchen while cooking in the Gian Chand Nagar Lohara area of Ludhiana. The injured person has been identified as Gopal Mehto, a factory worker.
Sequence of Events Leading to the Tragic Incident
On Monday night, when Gopal Mehto returned from work, he went to cook but when he took the lighter to the stove, there was a loud explosion. Sources said LPG gas had spread throughout the room due to a damaged pipe on the gas cylinder.
The fire spread too fast for Gopal to escape. He was completely engulfed in flames. Hearing the explosion and screams, people from the neighbourhood rushed to the scene. With a lot of difficulty, they managed to douse the flames and pull Gopal out.
Emergency Response and Medical Treatment
He was rushed to the civil hospital, from where he was referred to PGI due to his critical condition. The incident highlights the dangers of faulty LPG connections and the importance of regular safety checks in household kitchens.
Local authorities are investigating the exact cause of the gas leak and the condition of the cylinder and piping. Residents in the area have expressed shock and concern, urging others to ensure proper maintenance of gas appliances to prevent similar accidents.
