Nagpur: Police have busted a spurious medicine racket and registered a case against a pharmaceutical firm and multiple distributors for allegedly storing and selling fake drugs.

Raid Uncovers Counterfeit Life-Saving Drug

During a raid at a pharmaceutical company in Shantinagar, Drug Inspector Prashant Ramteke seized counterfeit stocks of the life-saving medicine 'Alburel', which is administered to critically ill patients.

Conspiracy Across States

Investigators said the prime accused conspired with distributors operating from Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Hyderabad, along with Danish Khan from Delhi, Rajukumar Mishra from Chandigarh, and others, to circulate the fake medicines between September 19 and December 17, 2025.

Legal Action Underway

A case has been registered at Shantinagar Police Station under Sections 318(4), 336(3), 340(2), 278 and 60(3)(5) of the IPC. Further investigation is underway.

Authorities are probing the supply chain and have alerted other states to check for counterfeit batches. The Drug Inspector has sent samples for analysis to confirm the composition of the seized drugs.

This crackdown highlights the ongoing battle against counterfeit medicines, which pose serious risks to patient health. Consumers are advised to purchase medicines only from licensed pharmacies and verify batch numbers with manufacturers.
