The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has inaugurated Maharashtra's largest 50-bed dialysis centre, offering free-of-cost treatment to patients. Located at the Vivekananda Cultural Center building in Vashi Sector 14, the facility aims to alleviate the financial burden on individuals requiring regular dialysis.
Addressing Affordability Challenges
Dialysis sessions typically cost between Rs 3,000 and Rs 3,500 each, making it unaffordable for many patients who need treatment two to three times per week. The new centre eliminates this financial barrier, providing essential care at no charge.
Expanding Dialysis Capacity
Municipal commissioner Kailas Shinde has directed officials to widely publicize the centre's services to ensure maximum benefit for needy citizens. The NMMC now operates a total of 85 dialysis beds across its facilities:
- 50 beds at the new Vashi centre (under one roof)
- 10 beds at Vashi Public Hospital
- 11 beds at Nerul Hospital
- 11 beds at Airoli Hospital
- 3 beds at the CBD Belapur centre
This expansion reflects the corporation's commitment to meeting the growing demand for dialysis services in the region.
