No Relief From Heatwave Till May End: Weatherman

Despite a slight dip in day and night temperatures, there was no mercy from the soaring mercury in Lucknow on Friday, as hot and dry conditions continued unabated. Worse, weathermen predicted there will be no relief from hot weather until the end of May.

Temperature Details

The maximum temperature in the city was 42.4 degrees Celsius, 2.2 units above normal, while the minimum was 28.8 degrees, around 3.3 units above normal. On Thursday, Lucknow had recorded 43.6 degrees Celsius, which was the highest day temperature of this summer so far. Though Friday's temperature was more than a degree lower, the extreme dry weather made conditions unbearable.

Forecast for Next Five Days

Senior weather scientist Mohammad Danish said, "There will be no major change in the weather for at least the next five days. The maximum temperatures in several Uttar Pradesh districts, including Lucknow, will remain above 40 degrees Celsius." He added that sizzling, high-speed westerly winds blowing from Rajasthan will continue to sweep across the plains, bringing extreme heat and lowering humidity.
