Temperature Details
Prayagraj recorded a maximum temperature of 46 degrees Celsius, while Banda topped the state at 46.2 degrees Celsius. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) maintained a red alert for Prayagraj and adjoining districts, warning that the heatwave conditions are likely to persist over the next few days.
The minimum temperature in Prayagraj settled at 26.8 degrees Celsius, making the night relatively warmer and uncomfortable for residents. Compared to Friday, when the city recorded a maximum of 46.2 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 26.4 degrees Celsius, the daytime temperature dipped marginally by 0.2 degrees Celsius, while the night temperature rose by 0.4 degrees Celsius.
Impact on Daily Life
Harsh sunlight and hot winds from early morning kept residents indoors on Saturday, leaving roads and markets deserted during peak afternoon hours. Even brief outdoor movement was difficult. Low clouds gathered after noon, bringing slight relief by evening. The weather was comparatively less severe than Friday.
Authorities have advised people to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight during afternoon hours. The heatwave also affected stray animals and birds, with many seen searching for water along roadsides, parks, and residential areas.
Community Response
Animal lovers and social workers placed earthen pots and water containers for birds, stray dogs, and cattle in several localities. Residents also kept drinking water outside homes and shops for commuters.
