Punjab Government Simplifies Enrollment for Young Beneficiaries Under Health Scheme
In a significant move to enhance accessibility, the Punjab government has approved a major relaxation in document requirements for beneficiaries under the age of 18 enrolled in the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana (MMSY). Key Changes to Document Requirements
The government has officially removed the mandatory requirement of submitting a birth certificate during the enrollment, reverification, or addition of new family members for minor beneficiaries. This policy shift addresses a common barrier faced by many families who may not have immediate access to formal birth documentation.
However, recognizing that the digital portal might still prompt for a birth certificate upload in certain cases, the state health agency has established an alternative procedure. When the birth certificate is unavailable, families can now submit an undertaking from the head of the household instead.
Verification Process and Operator Guidelines
The verification process has been made more flexible to accommodate practical realities. Operators are instructed to verify the minor beneficiary's details using either parent's name as recorded in the child's Aadhaar card. Verification using either parent's details will be considered sufficient, and minor variations in spelling or surname discrepancies may be reasonably overlooked to prevent unnecessary application rejections.
Authorities have been directed to disseminate these new guidelines to all operators working under Common Service Centres (CSC) and Seva Kendra (SK) operators within their jurisdiction. Strict compliance is mandated during the ongoing enrollment drive to ensure uniform implementation across the state.
