In the bustling city of Ranchi, a dedicated teacher is making a profound difference in the lives of patients through a selfless initiative. Amrendra Singh, who teaches at Delhi Public School (DPS) Ranchi, has been quietly running a free ambulance service for needy patients, offering a lifeline during medical emergencies.
Silent Service with a Big Impact
The Harmu resident not only manages the ambulance service but often drives patients to hospitals himself when his schedule permits. His commitment extends beyond transportation, as he provides oxygen cylinders and concentrators free of charge to patients and their families during critical situations.
"During the Covid-19 crisis, I first launched the free ambulance service given the widespread emergency that affected everyone, including Ranchi," Singh explained. "After the pandemic subsided and calls diminished, I paused the service. However, on Gandhi Jayanti last October, I decided to restart this initiative as a tribute to the spirit of service."

"When I'm available, I personally drive patients to healthcare facilities," he noted. "During busy periods, I have a designated driver who handles the transportation. The ambulance is equipped with a basic life support system, which has proven crucial in saving lives during transit to hospitals."
Sustaining the Initiative Through Personal Resources
When questioned about funding, Singh revealed that both he and his wife, who teaches mathematics at another reputable English medium school in Ranchi, manage the modest expenses from their own pockets.
"We both earn sufficiently to maintain a comfortable lifestyle, so I can cover the fuel costs and other minor expenses required to transport patients," he emphasized, highlighting how their combined incomes enable this charitable work.

A local resident informed us about Singh, whom we contacted immediately. His prompt assistance in transporting my friend to a nearby hospital was invaluable."
