Bathinda: Another man died of an alleged drug overdose late Monday, marking the second such death in a week in Bathinda district. The victim, Jagjit Singh, 39, a resident of the Paras Ram Nagar locality, was a daily wager who had been addicted to drugs for some time, according to local residents. He is survived by an 18-year-old daughter and a 12-year-old son.
Police Action and Arrest
After the matter came to light on Tuesday, police arrested Rohit Kumar, a resident of Bathinda, and registered a case under charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Bathinda Canal Colony Police Station SHO Harjot Singh said that upon receiving information about Singh's death, a case was registered and Rohit Kumar was taken into custody.
Previous Incident
Earlier, on April 21, 20-year-old Yash died of an alleged drug overdose in Rama town, Bathinda. The back-to-back incidents have raised concerns about drug abuse in the region.
