According to sources, the devotees had arrived at Samayapuram in the early hours and were resting inside a reinforced cement concrete (RCC) mandapam located on Sannidhi Street. Around 12:30 AM, without warning, a section of the ceiling gave way and fell directly onto them, causing immediate chaos and distress.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Samayapuram police and temple officials swiftly rushed to the scene. The injured, Ranjani and Paviksha, were promptly shifted to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital (MGMGH) for urgent medical treatment. Nathiya's body was also transported to the same hospital for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
