A tragic incident occurred in Ahmedabad on Monday afternoon when a 48-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the seventh floor of an apartment building in the Anandnagar area. Police recovered a suicide note from the scene in which she explicitly stated that neither her husband nor her family members should be held responsible for her death.
Victim Identified
The deceased has been identified as Nima Dave, a resident of Sharanam-7 society in the Satellite area. According to police officials, Dave had gone to Shubhdarshan Apartment in Anandnagar before taking the extreme step. Investigators noted that she did not reside at the society where the incident occurred, prompting them to probe why she specifically visited that location.
Sequence of Events
Officials reported that Dave arrived at the apartment building in the afternoon and jumped from the eighth floor. She died on the spot. The commotion attracted residents who gathered outside the building, leading to police being alerted. CCTV footage from the society reportedly captured the woman entering the premises shortly before the incident.
Police Investigation
Satellite police inspector Vinod Chaudhary stated that officials recovered her slippers from the eighth floor along with a suicide note. “In the note, she has mentioned that neither her husband nor family members are responsible for her death. Preliminary probe suggests she was distressed due to illness,” the officer said.
Police revealed that the woman had been undergoing treatment for mental health-related issues. Her husband later arrived at the spot with medical documents and case papers linked to her treatment. Officers are currently recording statements of family members and verifying details surrounding her movements before the incident.
Possible Motive
Police suspect that Dave may have had some acquaintances in the locality, though no confirmation has emerged so far. An accidental death case has been registered, and further investigation is underway. Authorities are examining all angles, including her medical history and any potential stressors that may have contributed to her decision.
