Allegations of medical negligence have emerged at SVP Hospital in Ahmedabad following the death of a woman during treatment on Wednesday. The incident has sparked widespread concern after the patient's daughter shared a video on social media, accusing doctors of failing to provide adequate care.

The deceased, identified as Gira Dipakkumar Soni, was admitted to SVP Hospital on February 21 with complaints of asthma and cough. According to officials from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), her condition deteriorated over time, leading to her transfer to the intensive care unit three days before her passing due to multiple complications.
A preliminary report by the civic body stated that the woman succumbed to multiple organ failure. Notably, AMC officials mentioned that a postmortem examination could not be conducted as the family declined it.
Family Allegations and Viral Video
In a highly emotional video that went viral on social media, the patient's daughter, Kshitisha Soni, leveled serious accusations of negligence against the hospital staff. She claimed that her mother, who had pre-existing conditions of asthma and diabetes, did not receive proper treatment during her hospitalization.
Kshitisha alleged that the hospital was experimenting on patients under government schemes and that staff repeatedly denied her access to critical case papers despite her requests. "My mother had asthma and diabetes and was admitted for treatment, but she did not receive proper care," she stated in the video.
Political Fallout and Investigation
The allegations triggered immediate protests by opposition leaders on Thursday. Shehzad Khan Pathan, the opposition leader, led a demonstration at the hospital premises, demanding strict action against those responsible. He asserted that the patient had initially been admitted with mild symptoms, but her condition worsened due to alleged negligence.
Pathan called for the immediate removal of responsible personnel from duty and urged for stringent measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. In response, the deputy municipal commissioner of AMC has constituted a three-member committee to investigate the matter thoroughly.
