BHU to Host Major National Conference on AI in Healthcare and Education
The Regional Resource Centre (Eastern Region) at the Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (IMS-BHU) in Varanasi is set to organize a significant 3-day national conference titled 'AI for Viksit Bharat: Transforming HealthCare and Learning (NCAIHC 2026)'. This event will take place from February 14 to 16, 2026, bringing together key stakeholders from the medical and technology sectors.
Conference Aims to Unite Experts for Future Vision
During a press briefing on Thursday, Dr. S N Sankhwar, Director of IMS-BHU, emphasized that the conference is designed to create a collaborative platform. It will gather medical professionals, technology experts, policymakers, academicians, and researchers to collectively envision the future of intelligent and technology-driven healthcare in India.
Aligned with national initiatives, the conference supports Prime Minister's vision for Digital India and Viksit Bharat. It will focus on how artificial intelligence and digital health solutions can enhance healthcare accessibility, affordability, efficiency, and inclusivity, particularly for underserved and remote communities.
Core Objectives and Expected Outcomes
The primary goal of NCAIHC 2026 is to explore practical applications of AI in various healthcare domains. Key areas of discussion will include:
- Early disease detection through AI-driven diagnostics
- Improved clinical decision-making with advanced algorithms
- Expansion of telemedicine services to reach wider populations
- Enhancement of medical education using innovative technologies
- Development of efficient healthcare delivery systems
Beyond theoretical discussions, the conference aims to formulate a clear and actionable roadmap for implementing intelligent healthcare solutions across India. This strategic plan is expected to guide future policies and initiatives in the sector.
Role of Regional Resource Centre in Healthcare Delivery
A significant aspect of the conference will highlight the pivotal role played by the Regional Resource Centre (Eastern Region) at IMS-BHU. This center operates under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and currently provides essential support to multiple regions.
The RRC-East serves Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands by delivering crucial telemedicine services. These efforts are instrumental in strengthening last-mile healthcare delivery, ensuring that even the most remote populations have access to medical expertise.
This conference represents a major step forward in integrating artificial intelligence into India's healthcare and education systems, potentially transforming how medical services are delivered and learned nationwide.
