Bihar Government Launches Six Specialized Day-Care Centers for Hemophilia and Thalassemia Patients
The Bihar government has announced a significant healthcare initiative by establishing dedicated day-care centers for hemophilia and thalassemia patients at six major medical institutions across the state. This move is part of a broader effort to strengthen healthcare services and provide comprehensive treatment facilities under one roof.
Comprehensive Treatment Facilities at Six Key Locations
The centers are being set up at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) in Patna, Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) in Muzaffarpur, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital (JLNMCH) in Bhagalpur, All India Institute of Medical Sciences-Patna (AIIMS-Patna), Government Medical College Purnia, and Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital (ANMMCH) in Gaya. These locations span key regions including North Bihar, Magadh, Bhagalpur, and Patna, ensuring widespread accessibility.
Free Services and Modern Infrastructure
According to a press release from the Information and Public Relations Department (IPRD), the centers will offer a range of free services, including:
- Blood transfusions at no cost
- Regular diagnostic tests
- Distribution of essential medicines
The facilities will be equipped with modern medical infrastructure and advanced technical capabilities to support effective treatment. Health workers will be deployed round the clock to ensure uninterrupted patient care, enhancing the quality and reliability of services.
Reducing Out-of-State Treatment Needs
Officials emphasized that this project aims to reduce the need for patients to seek treatment outside Bihar by making specialized care available within the state. By centralizing resources at these day-care centers, the government hopes to improve outcomes for hemophilia and thalassemia patients while alleviating the financial and logistical burdens associated with traveling for medical care.
Part of Broader Healthcare Infrastructure Push
This initiative is part of the government's broader strategy to strengthen healthcare infrastructure across Bihar, including in the capital and other districts. Construction work is currently underway at the identified institutions, signaling a proactive approach to implementation. The move reflects a commitment to addressing chronic health conditions through targeted, accessible, and high-quality medical services.
