In a tragic incident that has left the community in shock, a family of four was found dead inside their locked home in Chhattisgarh's Durg district on Friday morning. The family had just returned from a pilgrimage days earlier, and neighbors described them as quiet and reserved.
Discovery of the Bodies
The bodies of Govind Sahu (45), his wife Chanchal Sahu (40), their daughter Drishti Sahu (13), and son Yashant Sahu (11) were discovered after family members noticed no movement and alerted the police. Upon entering the house, officers found the couple hanging in separate rooms, while the children were lying on a bed.
Suicide Note and Possible Motive
A handwritten suicide note recovered from the scene reportedly mentioned financial distress and family disputes. Police are verifying all angles, but the note suggests the parents may have killed their children before taking their own lives.
Authorities suspect the children died after consuming poisonous substances, though postmortem and forensic examinations are pending. Investigators are examining mobile phone records, the note's contents, and the family's recent financial condition.
Community Reaction
Neighbors expressed disbelief, noting that nothing seemed unusual. "They had just come back from a religious trip. Nobody imagined something like this was happening inside," a resident said. The family was described as keeping to themselves and not very socially active.
Police are continuing their investigation to determine the exact circumstances leading to the tragedy. Further details are expected after forensic results are available.
