CM Nitish Kumar inspects 400-bed super speciality hospital work

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted a detailed inspection of the ongoing construction of a major healthcare facility in the state capital on Wednesday, emphasizing the need for timely completion to boost medical infrastructure.

On-Site Review of Super Speciality Hospital Project

During his visit to the Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan (LNJPN) Super Speciality Hospital in Rajvanshi Nagar, Patna, the Chief Minister examined the progress on the new six-storey building. He issued clear instructions to the overseeing officials to speed up the construction process. An official present confirmed that the project is estimated to be finished by March 2026.

Nitish Kumar stressed that the primary objective is to create a centralized hub for advanced medical treatment. "Our objective is to provide state-of-the-art treatment facilities to patients under one roof," he stated. "For this purpose, the LNJPN hospital is being developed as a super speciality hospital for orthopaedic diseases, and a new building is being constructed."

Key Features and Project Details

The ambitious project, which received approval following the CM's 2012 announcement to develop LNJPN into a super speciality centre, involves a significant investment. A communique from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) outlined the following details:

  • The construction of the 400-bed hospital building is being undertaken at a cost of Rs 215 crore.
  • The six-storey structure will include modern amenities such as six operation theatres, 42 ICU beds, and 15 private wards.
  • Patient and visitor convenience has been factored in with provisions for parking for 250 vehicles and six lifts.
  • To ensure smooth operations, 140 posts have been created for the hospital, which includes 66 doctors.

The CM also took time during his inspection to interact directly with patients and their attendants already at the hospital, inquiring about the health facilities available to them. He directed officials to ensure no laxity in the treatment provided.

Focus on Timely Completion and Future Impact

Nitish Kumar's inspection underscores the state government's focus on enhancing healthcare infrastructure. The upcoming super speciality wing is poised to become a major referral centre for orthopaedic ailments in the region.

Once fully operational, the hospital is expected to greatly benefit patients suffering from orthopaedic diseases, eliminating the need for them to travel outside Bihar for advanced care. The presence of senior officials, including the CM's principal secretary Deepak Kumar, secretaries Kumar Ravi and Chandrashekhar Singh, and District Magistrate Thiyagarajan SM, highlighted the importance accorded to this project.

The directive for speedy completion aligns with the broader vision of making quality specialised healthcare accessible within the state, marking a significant step forward for Bihar's medical services.
