Bengaluru: “Healthcare is a social mission. It is a commitment to reducing pain, protecting all sections of society with dignity and wellbeing.” This was chief minister DK Shivakumar’s message for students at the 28th annual convocation of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.
CM praises Karnataka doctors
“The doctors produced by Karnataka are unmatched in terms of quality, efficiency and commitment,” he added. As many as 72,741 students graduated across various disciplines of health sciences. Among them, 71 scholars received PhD degrees, 211 were super specialty graduates, 9,769 received postgraduate degrees, eight were recipients of postgraduate diplomas, 256 received fellowships, 15 completed certificate courses and 62,419 were undergraduates. A total of 103 candidates received 115 gold medals.
Minister stresses on communication
Medical education minister Dr Sharan Prakash Patil highlighted the importance of communication with patients. “I have seen many backbenchers becoming best doctors, and it was only because of their communication with patients. Treat every patient with empathy and compassion. That will make you great in the profession,” he said.
