Karnal's Mega Medical College Nears Completion Ahead of June 2026 Deadline
In a significant development for healthcare infrastructure in Haryana, the ambitious Bhagwan Parshuram Government Medical College in Karnal is rapidly progressing towards its scheduled completion date of June 2026. Deputy Commissioner Aparajita conducted a thorough inspection of the under-construction facility at Sampan Kheri village on Tuesday, reviewing the project's advancements and issuing directives to ensure timely delivery.
Inspection and Progress Review
During her visit, the Deputy Commissioner meticulously examined various components of the mega project, including the hospital block, academic buildings, student hostels, and residential quarters designated for doctors and staff. Emphasizing the dual priorities of speed and quality, she instructed officials and the executing agency to accelerate the remaining construction work while maintaining stringent standards.
"Work on this Rs 935-crore project is progressing rapidly, with around 83 per cent of the construction already completed. With a target deadline of June 2026, officials have been directed to further accelerate work to meet the scheduled timeline," stated Deputy Commissioner Aparajita.
Project Specifications and Features
The medical college, sprawling across approximately 20 acres of land, is designed to be a state-of-the-art healthcare and educational hub. Key features include:
- A 530-bed multi-specialty hospital equipped to handle diverse medical needs.
- 100 MBBS seats for aspiring medical students, enhancing educational opportunities in the region.
- Modern academic infrastructure to support comprehensive medical training.
- Separate hostels with a capacity for 350 boys and 250 girls, ensuring comfortable accommodation for students.
- Residential accommodation for medical staff and officers, facilitating a conducive working environment.
Government Commitment and Future Impact
Deputy Commissioner Aparajita highlighted that this initiative reflects the Haryana Government's focused efforts under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to strengthen healthcare infrastructure across the state. "Once fully operational, the medical college will not only enhance healthcare delivery in the region but also provide new opportunities for youths in medical education," she remarked.
To ensure a smooth transition to operational status, the government has already appointed a Director for the medical college. This proactive step underscores the administration's dedication to making the facility functional as soon as construction concludes, potentially transforming healthcare accessibility and medical education in Karnal and surrounding areas.
