The decision was announced following a high-level review meeting of the Medical Education and Research Department, which was chaired by the Chief Minister himself. He stated that equipping these colleges with high-end, world-class machinery is not just an upgrade but an imperative step. Detailed Fund Allocation for Four Institutes
The Chief Minister has instructed the Medical Education Department to disburse the funds without delay. The total corpus of Rs 68.98 crore will be distributed among four major medical institutions across Punjab. The detailed breakdown is as follows:
- Government Medical College, Amritsar: Rs 26.53 crore
- Government Medical College, Patiala: Rs 28.51 crore
- Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Medical Sciences, Mohali: Rs 9.43 crore
- PGI Satellite Centre, Ferozepur: Rs 4.51 crore
