Punjab Inaugurates State-of-the-Art 256-Bed Trauma Centre in Patiala
In a significant boost to healthcare infrastructure, Punjab's Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh inaugurated a modern 256-bed trauma centre at Rajindra Hospital in Patiala on Saturday. The project, developed with a substantial budget of Rs 81.80 crore, is specifically designed to treat serious accident and emergency cases, aiming to save lives and improve medical outcomes.
Modern Facilities and Advanced Equipment
During the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Balbir Singh emphasized the government's commitment to providing high-quality health services to the public. The new facility is a fully centrally air-conditioned building equipped with cutting-edge medical infrastructure. Key features include:
- Modern operation theatres for surgical procedures
- Intensive Care Units (ICUs) with advanced monitoring systems
- State-of-the-art diagnostic systems for accurate and rapid assessments
- Adequate ventilator support for critical patients
The minister highlighted that this trauma centre will provide immediate and quality treatment facilities to residents of Patiala and surrounding districts, significantly enhancing emergency services and increasing survival rates in critical situations.
Additional Patient-Centric Initiatives
To further improve patient convenience, Dr. Balbir Singh announced that a new facility centre is being prepared at a cost of Rs 56 lakh. This centre will include:
- Billing and admission sections to streamline administrative processes
- A mini laboratory for immediate diagnostic tests
This initiative aims to prevent delays in treatment by ensuring necessary lab tests for emergency patients are available on-site, thereby enhancing convenience for patients and their families.
Support for Medical Staff and Infrastructure Development
In addition to patient facilities, the government has allocated Rs 13.53 crore for the construction of a hostel for junior resident doctors. This project is intended to provide better residential facilities for doctors and medical staff, ultimately making the delivery of health services more effective and efficient.
Access to Government Health Schemes
Dr. Balbir Singh urged the public to bring their Aadhaar card and voter card to avail benefits of the Chief Minister Health Scheme. He assured that cards would be made on the spot at the hospital, facilitating easy access to healthcare services.
Under this scheme, patients can receive free treatment facilities up to Rs 10 lakh, eliminating the need to purchase medicines from outside. All treatment and medicines will be provided free of cost within the hospital, ensuring comprehensive care without financial burden.
Appeal for Public Participation
The minister appealed to youth and women to get their scheme cards made to secure health protection and employment opportunities. He reiterated that the Punjab government is continuously striving for public welfare and remains fully committed to elevating health facilities in the state to new heights.
