Fake Dentist Operating for Years Arrested in Hyderabad Raid

In a significant crackdown on illegal medical practices, a man who had been masquerading as a dentist for several years was arrested on Tuesday in Hyderabad. The arrest followed a coordinated raid conducted by the special operations team and local police in the Old Neredmet area of Malkajgiri.

Clinic Operated Without License for Over a Decade

The Neredmet police registered a case after receiving specific intelligence that Anjalika Dental Clinic, located near Three Temple, was functioning without any valid license or authorization. Acting swiftly on this information, officials conducted a surprise inspection around 2 PM.

During the inspection, authorities discovered that the accused, identified as Ramesh Kumar Gupta (46), was running the clinic without possessing a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree. Further verification revealed an even more alarming fact: Gupta had not completed any formal education beyond the school level.

Police investigation confirmed that he had allegedly used fabricated credentials to present himself as a qualified dental professional, deceiving patients and the community for years.

Background and Modus Operandi of the Accused

According to police records, Ramesh Kumar Gupta originally hails from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. He moved to Telangana approximately 25 years ago, initially residing in Kagaznagar before shifting to Neredmet about 15 years back.

It was around 14 years ago that he reportedly established the Anjalika Dental Clinic, which he operated frequently during late-night hours. This unusual timing may have been a tactic to avoid scrutiny or to cater to patients seeking emergency dental care outside regular hours.

Police stated that Gupta was actively treating patients and charging professional fees while falsely claiming to have legitimate dental qualifications. This not only constituted cheating but also posed a severe risk to public health, as unqualified treatments can lead to complications, infections, and other serious medical issues.

Legal Actions and Ongoing Investigation

A formal case has been registered against Ramesh Kumar Gupta under relevant sections for cheating and illegal medical practice. The charges reflect the gravity of his actions, which involved systematic deception and potential harm to unsuspecting patients.

Authorities have emphasized that the investigation is still ongoing. They are examining the full extent of his activities, including how many patients were treated, the nature of treatments provided, and whether there are any accomplices or similar fraudulent operations in the area.

This case highlights the critical importance of verifying medical credentials and the need for vigilant public reporting of suspicious practices. The Hyderabad police have urged citizens to always check the qualifications and licenses of healthcare providers before seeking treatment.
