Telangana CM warns to dump paddy at BJP, BRS leaders' homes

Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday said the Congress-led state government will procure the entire paddy produce that farmers wish to sell. He warned that if the Centre fails to lift the procured paddy, it would be dumped in front of the residences of Union ministers, BJP MPs, and MLAs, as well as leaders of the BRS.

CM's remarks on paddy procurement

The CM, during an interaction with the media at his camp office at MCR HRD Institute, said the Central government cannot shirk its responsibility of procuring paddy and other crops after announcing the minimum support price (MSP). He added that the state government would wait until June 12 for the Centre to act.

He urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure that the Food Corporation of India lifts the paddy being procured by the state government. He also said Union coal minister G Kishan Reddy should persuade the PM to intervene in the matter.

Accusations against BRS and BJP

He accused the BRS and BJP of attempting to mislead farmers with false claims for political gains. He alleged that while Kishan Reddy was defending the Centre's decision to procure only 52 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from Telangana, former CM K Chandrashekar Rao had earlier discouraged paddy cultivation by telling farmers that growing paddy was equivalent to "hanging oneself."

Fake additional collector case

In a separate development, police revealed that an 'additional collector' who was part of a land regularisation conspiracy turned out to be a civil contractor. Brahma Naidu had represented the Vinukonda assembly constituency in Andhra Pradesh between 2019 and 2024.

The Nimmalas allegedly received Rs 4 crore as an advance for signing MoUs with Brahma Naidu. The conspiracy was allegedly mediated by the now missing accused, Sunil, Radhakrishna, and others.

"Brahma Naidu claimed he would make sure the land was regularised with the help of Radhakrishna who was an additional collector in Suryapet. But Radhakrishna turned out to be a civil contractor. They created fake GOs showing the land had been regularised and signed MOUs with the family, who have no legal right over the land," deputy commissioner of police Ch Srinivas said.

On Thursday police conducted searches at the residence of Nimmala family in Narsingi and found that they had signed the MOU on the basis of five GOs, all fake.
