Bengaluru police have apprehended two individuals allegedly involved in a series of thefts across the city. The accused were identified as Syed Afzal alias Pandey, 27, a mutton stall employee, and Syed Touhid, 19, an auto-rickshaw driver. Authorities recovered five two-wheelers and eight LPG cylinders from their possession.
Details of the Incident
According to the police, on March 28, the duo targeted a 23-year-old mason named Shivu, who was staying in a shed at an under-construction site in Nrupathunganagar, south Bengaluru. Around 8 pm, one of the miscreants entered the shed, threatened Shivu with a machete, and robbed him of Rs 5,000 before fleeing on a two-wheeler with his accomplice.
Arrest and Confession
The Puttenahalli police nabbed the duo near Vinayakanagar Circle on May 20. During interrogation, they confessed not only to the robbery but also to multiple thefts involving two-wheelers and LPG cylinders in areas such as Madiwala, Jayanagar, Kumaraswamy Layout, and Puttenahalli. Afzal has a prior criminal record with seven cases against him, while Touhid was caught for the first time.
The police continue to investigate the possibility of their involvement in other unsolved thefts in the region.
