GNDU scientist Dr Manoj Kumar gets Silver Star Award for chemical sciences

Dr Manoj Kumar Honored with Silver Star Award

Dr Manoj Kumar, a CSIR Emeritus Scientist in the Department of Chemistry at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), has been conferred the Silver Star Award, along with a medal and certificate, by the Chirantan Rasayan Sanstha (CRS), Midnapore, West Bengal. The award was presented during the International Symposium on Science Beyond Boundary: Invention, Discovery, Innovation and Society, held at Saurashtra University, Rajkot, from July 8 to 10.

Recognition for Exceptional Contributions

The award was presented by Dr Anil Kakodkar (Padma Vibhushan), former chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission of India, secretary to the Government of India, and former director of BARC. The ceremony was attended by many eminent scientists from different parts of India. Dr Kumar received the honour in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the field of chemical sciences.

Impressive Research Record

Dr Kumar has published 225 research publications in international journals of high impact. He is a fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bengaluru, and a fellow of the Punjab Academy of Sciences, Patiala. He was also awarded the Bronze Medal by the Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI), Bengaluru, for his contributions to chemical sciences.

Dr Kumar Expresses Gratitude

Dr Kumar stated that he owed this recognition to his hard-working team of students over time and to GNDU for providing research facilities. Prof Karamjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the university, congratulated Prof Kumar on his achievement.
