A case of alleged medical negligence has been registered in Hyderabad after a 45-year-old man claimed he suffered serious health complications following a hair loss treatment at a clinic in the upscale Banjara Hills area. The victim, a glass worker from Hafeez Baba Nagar, approached the police after his first session of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy led to distressing side effects, prompting an official probe.
From Hair Loss to Health Crisis: The Patient's Allegation
The complainant stated that he was struggling with significant hair loss when people he knew suggested a specific clinic on Road Number 14 in Banjara Hills. Upon calling the clinic, a person who identified herself as Aanam answered and promoted their services as providing the "best Turkey hair transplant." This claim led the man to visit the facility on December 15.
During his visit around 1 pm, the receptionist, Mamatha, recommended a six-month PRP package priced at ₹1,500 per month. The complainant agreed and underwent his first session, which was administered by lab technician Praveen. The situation took a turn for the worse almost immediately.
"Within minutes, I felt dizzy," the victim recounted in his police complaint, which was formally lodged on Wednesday night. Despite informing the clinic staff about his sudden dizziness, they allegedly brushed off his concerns as not serious and sent him home.
Ongoing Suffering and Police Action
The aftermath of the session has been debilitating for the man. He alleges that from the time he left the clinic, he has been continuously suffering from dizziness, vomiting, and numbness on the left side of his body. "Due to the clinic staff's negligence, I have suffered serious health problems," the victim asserted in his complaint.
Taking cognizance of the serious allegations, the Banjara Hills police have registered a case against the clinic staff. The case has been filed under Section 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with negligence. Sub-Inspector P Naveen, who is overseeing the initial investigation, outlined the next steps.
"As part of the initial probe, we will issue a notice to the clinic's management to verify their licences and the qualifications of the staff, as well as reviewing the case sheet of the complaint," stated SI Naveen. This verification process is crucial to determine if proper medical protocols were followed.
