Senior Army Officer Succumbs After Prolonged Medical Battle

The Indian Army mourns the loss of one of its distinguished officers, Major General Syed Taqui Abbas Rizvi, who passed away on Saturday after a prolonged battle with a severe medical condition. The 52-year-old officer was serving at the Army Service Corps (MG ASC) in Command Headquarters Lucknow at the time of his demise.

Final Moments at Command Hospital

Major General Rizvi breathed his last at 11:25 am at the Command Hospital in Lucknow, where he had been undergoing treatment for the past two months. The officer had been fighting acute severe necrotizing pancreatitis, a critical illness known for its high mortality rate.

This devastating condition causes the pancreas to digest its own tissue, leading to severe inflammation, internal bleeding, and often resulting in multi-organ failure. Despite the best medical efforts, the officer could not overcome this challenging health battle.

Family Legacy and Military Honors

Hailing from Gorakhpur, Major General Rizvi leaves behind his wife Nishat Bano Rizvi, daughter Gul Zehra, and teenage son Jari Abbas. The late officer was laid to rest with full military honors at the Imambara Ghufran Ma'ab.

Army personnel accorded him a guard of honour, paying their final respects to the departed soldier. Fellow officers described his passing as a profound loss to both the army community and all who had the privilege of knowing him personally and professionally.

The untimely demise of Major General Rizvi has created a significant void in the Indian Army's leadership ranks, particularly within the Army Service Corps where he had been making valuable contributions until his health began deteriorating.
